Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hey everybody!

Had to pop online to post a quick Thanksgiving greeting. I'm staying in Nashville for Turkey Day this year, so I wanted to send warm greetings to all of the family that I'll miss again this year. It occured to me that this will be the second Thanksgiving in a row that I'll miss, and the third missed Turkey Day of my life. My first was when I was on the road with Lonesome Road.. then again while I was touring with David St. Romain. And now I'll miss the Thoma/Hansen gathering for the sake of compromise.

I'm staying in Nashville to spend the holiday with Lauren's family in order to spend Christmas in Iowa. A fair trade, I'd say. I'm going to attempt to make Aunt Grace's Sage Stuffing this year because apparently it doesn't exist in the South. Everyone looked at me cross-eyed when I mentioned a stuffing that used bread cubes instead of cornbread and biscuits! And I couldn't find bread cubes in the store so I had to toast my own. I'll let everyone know how it turned out tomorrow.

I'll also miss Dad's recreation of Aunt Grace's turkey. Crisco, flour and butter on the outside, salt and stuffing on the inside.. mmm.... There will be two turkeys today though. One oven roasted and one deep fried, so I bet I won't go hungry.

I suppose I shouldn't end this post without saying what it is that I'm thankful for this year...

Family. I'm thankful that I have such a supportive family that I know will be behind me at every turn. Always ready to be my safety net or give me that extra little push should I need one.

I'm also thankful for my friends, both old and new.

Following close behind family is my extended family. To Lou Anne and Clay Newsome I'd like to say thanks for always being there to help Lauren and I should we need it. Also thanks for making sure we eat regularly! :-) And to Lauren I'd like to say thanks for always being supportive of my career and helping to advance me in any way you can.

Gotta go finish the stuffing... Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
